Mary ShelleyMary Shelley was born Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin on August 30th, 1797 in London, England. Mary met her future husband Percy Bysshe Shelley when she was 16, despite the forbidding of her father. In 1814 Mary and Percy eloped to France where they remained unmarried until the 30th of December, 1816. Mary and Percy had four children, three of which died within the first year of life. Percy Shelley drown in a storm on his schooner the "Don Juan" in 1822 at the age of thirty. Mary Shelley died of a brain tumor on February 1st, 1851. She was 54.
